Exploring Stop Motion Animation
Are you in a creative rut? Want to try something new but don't know where to begin? Consider joining Artist Member Garrett Moore during Poiema Visual Arts' March Weekend Workshop, "Exploring Stop Motion Animation!" During our time together, Garrett will demonstrate the use of materials and techniques for creating cut-out and handmade animation.
The majority of the session will be dedicated to the hands-on practice of animating; following the viewing some short introductory clips. Each participant will utilize their phone along with materials & techniques of their choice in making a short, animated loop. The workshop will conclude with a showcase of willing participant’s work created during this session.
Outcomes:
Participants will gain knowledge of the tools Photo Editor and FlipaClip, and understand how to use them to animate.
By the end of the session, each participant will have produced a 4-second-long GIF (animated loop).
Participants will have the opportunity to connect with others interested in creating animation.
Required Materials:
Please bring a sketchbook, a writing/drawing utensil, and a smartphone with the following apps installed:
Photo Editor (any version)
FlipaClip: Cartoon Animation Creator & Art Studio (available on Google Play or the App Store)

Location:
This workshop will take place at Poiema Visual Arts' Studio, which is located at East Petersburg Church (6279 Main Street | East Petersburg, PA 17520). Participants should plan to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the beginning of the workshop.
